Awesome report!! I really enjoy reading these. How many days did you take to make this run? What was your average mileage per day?
Also I noticed a pad on your seat, is this some sort of gelpack or somethihng?

Thanks Brian. This was a 6 week trip plus a day. The mileage varied. Where there was lots to see there were fewer miles covered. I’ll try to get more details posted soon. The seat is cool. It’s an air cushion and makes a big difference. It’s called the Airhawk. They make different sizes for different bikes. A guy told me about them last year at Devils Tower, WY while he was attending a BMW event.

Thanks for getting back to me. Such a great trip, thanks for sharing it with us. I saw these Airhawks, wasnt sure if they were all they were cracked up to be. Sounds like they worked pretty good. Is there a size for the Bonnie? Or that you would recommend.
Saw your posts on Skyline at the onset of your trip. Funny part is, I was on Skyline on the 16th and 17th of July. Looks like we just missed each other. What an awesome ride.

Hey Brian.
Yes, the Airhawk worked great. It also served as a great camping pillow. I used the 11×9 inch pad. If fit perfectly between my tank and rear bag. I didn’t even need to strap it down. Without the bags I will more than likely have to put the straps on again. Yeah Skyline is a nice chill ride.
Take good care.

Hey man,
What an adventure! I dug seeing your trip. Lot’s of cool stops and locations. I envy you. Hey, I’m about to travel from L.A. to Austin to visit family. I feel pretty confident, I’ve travelled up and down CA a few times but I wonder what you do if you’re out of range of cell phone service and you get a flat. Did you carry tire changing tools? Obviously, a guy would have to have a center stand to fix a tire on the road, or did you chance it? If you brought this up on your blog, i missed it, it was late last night when I was checking it out! I have a ‘07 T-100. Thanks,
Slim

Hey Slim,
Thanks. As far as tires go, I roughed it. Didn’t worry and had no problems. Slime was recommended to me while I was on the road. It is a tire sealant you can use with tube tires. I will probably get some myself. It looks like a good product. Check it:

There is a lot of good stuff to see between LA and Austin.
Have a great trip!
